Are you fearing that roaches have invaded your commercial space?
Nothing makes customers run off faster than the sight of a cockroach. As a business owner, you must ensure that your commercial space is free of them.
But how? How can you ensure that your building is void of disgusting cockroaches? By looking out for specific signs.
Without further ado, here are 5 common signs of roaches in restaurants and other shops.
1. A Foul Odor
Cockroaches might not be all that big, but that doesn’t mean they don’t possess a scent. They do and, when there are many of them in one area, it becomes extremely noticeable quite quickly.
The odor left by cockroaches can most accurately be described as musty. It usually comes from feces, specifically, and can actually serve to attract even more cockroaches. As such, the second you identify it, you need to take action.
2. Cockroach Skin
As cockroaches age, they shed their skin. If you have cockroaches in your building, you will almost certainly see bits of their hard shells laying on the ground.
In many cases, these will be found in close proximity to baseboards, as those are often the avenues through which cockroaches travel.
3. Cockroach Feces
The next sign to look out for is cockroach feces. This looks a bit like ground coffee. It’s dark in color and crumbly in appearance.
Cockroach droppings are typically extremely small, however. They take up less than a millimeter of space. You must look closely in order to notice them.
They’ll be easiest to see on light-colored floors. Look next to your baseboards, in particular, as cockroaches often make their way through these.
4. Chew Marks
Cockroaches will eat anything they can get close to. So, if you notice chew marks in pieces of food around your shop, there’s reason to believe that cockroaches are present.
In fact, if you’re wondering when to call an exterminator, now would be that time. Even if it’s not cockroaches that are biting into your food, something is, and it needs to be done away with as well.
5. Cockroaches Themselves
Rest assured, if there are cockroaches in your building, you will eventually spot one. No, your eyes aren’t deceiving you. And if you see one cockroach, there are bound to be many others.
So, don’t think you’ve stamped out the problem by stomping the cockroach out on the ground. Schedule a building and pest inspection and do away with the entire infestation.
These Signs of Roaches Might Make Your Skin Crawl
But you can’t let them get the best of you. The second you notice signs of roaches, you need to take action, lest the roaches start breeding and create a full-blown infestation. Call up your local pest control company, and they’ll have the problem sorted in short order.
